A Mini Summer Vacation Part I

My parents are here to visit us and with rare sunny skies and warm 24°C we I made the decision to drive up north and spend a day at the beach. It has been more than a year now since the last time we saw the ocean, and although the Baltic Sea cannot compete with the North Sea or Atlantic Ocean in the least, it is still better than nothing.
Four days off from work in a row is the most i can get this year, so this day at the beach was kind of like my mini summer vacation. My dad did a search on Google to find a hidden place where i could collect some driftwood and after a one-hour drive we ended up in the middle of nowhere. If you are a city girl like me, you cannot imagine the incredible quietness  of this place. No traffic noise or humans let alone cars. Nothing but the chirping of birds and the soft whistle of the wind. Wonderful!

Our wedding in a magazine!

Our wedding is featured in the most recent issue of the WeddingStyle magazine!!

It's been one year and three months since we got married and i am still so in love with our beautiful photos ( taken by Kristen Wynn), my aqua shoes and my wonderful husband, of course!

On my balcony

During winter almost all the planters on the balcony got damaged by frost and snow, which is actually my fault because i forgot to cover them. They filled up with rain water first and then all of a sudden came frost, the water froze, the blocks of ice caused irreparable cracks and the planters ended up bottomless.
Such a bummer!

But lesson learned, and in contrast to what my husband and my mother want me to do, i am not going to throw the pieces away (no, no, NO!) but break them into smaller fragments and turn them into some kind of outdoor mosaic rug or doormat.

This is what i did with my most favorite planter: simply turned it upside down and keep on using it as what is supposed to be: a planter.

11 Groom Gifts

1. "The Everything Groom Book: A survival guide for men" by Shelly Hagan.
Back then I bought the book as a gift for my fiance; it's a well-written, detailed and humorous guide for the husband-to-be but also an entertaining read for the bride.

Flea Market Finds

My favorite flea market is back! It only takes place four times a year and after missing the first one last month, I took a day off from work to be able to go there today.
I went twice: early in the morning i found a long pearl necklace with over 200 pearls, which is perfect for crafts and so much cheaper than buying pearls at the craft store. Late in the afternoon i went again, accompanied by my mother, and since most sellers needed to get rid of their unsold junk they gave some items away for free. I grabbed a shirt and skirt ( great for fabric crafts), another shirt and sweater ( great for me to wear), a pretty belt, another belt with pearls and beads ( more free craft supplies, yay!), a starfish plate, a Mikado game, a sugar bowl that i am going to paint, and a handfull of cookie cutters.
I also found this ultra kitschy but super cute flamingo bag with bamboo handles for 1€. Love it!
My mother purchased a bag too, with a pretty tropical floral pattern.

Back home i noticed some of the cookie cutters are from Wilton and Tupperware. Fabulous!
I had to try them immediately, and started working on some christmas ornaments that i am going to sell in my Etsy shop soon.
Christmas in July :)

Cheers!

To a fabulous and sunny summer!
