DIY Glitter Deer Head Mod Podge Makeover

A glitter deer head of some kind had been on my DIY Christmas decoration list for years, so naturally this little ornament landed in my cart as soon as I saw it.

It was the last one, and looked a bit shabby already, with glitter coming off around the nose, but who cares for 79 Cent. Nothing a bit of extra glitter and Mod Podge can't fix, right?

Ölfarben sind einfach herrlich. Ich liebe die Konsistenz, da ich bevorzugt mit dem Spachtel arbeite, statt Pinsel. Es gefällt mir nämlich gar nicht wenn Farbe einfach nur dünn aufgemalt wird, und man die Struktur der Leinwand durchschimmert sieht. Schön dick muss es sein.

Leider bin ich viel zu ungeduldig, denn Ölfarben haben eine sehr lange Trocknungszeit. Wir reden hier nicht von ein paar Stunden, sondern Wochen, ja sogar Monaten. 

Darum male ich sonst hauptsächlich mit Acryl- oder Aquarellfarben bzw Guache, aber hier liegt noch ein ganzer Satz Ölfarbe rum, und die möchte ich gerne aufbrauchen, denn vom liegen wird sie auch nicht besser, ganz im Gegenteil.

Mama hat Geburtstag!
Und weil dieser ziemlich undankbar auf den 23. Dezember fällt, geht er natürlich schon ihr Leben lang immer etwas unter im allgemeinen Weihnachts-Trubel. Jedes Jahr sagt sie: "ein Weihnachtsgeschenk brauche ich nicht, aber zum Geburtstag, da wünsche ich mir etwas Schönes"
Also versuche ich jedes Jahr Ihren Geburtstag zu etwas besonderem zu machen, suche einen Platz in der Wohnung der nicht weihnachtlich geschmückt ist, und baue dort die Geburtstags-Ecke auf.

DIY Easy Knit Hat

I can't knit, haha. The only pattern i can do is a basic one, I don't even know what it is called. It is good enough to make my own scarves, hats and leg warmers though.

Last year I purchased a blanket set from We Are Knitters. The manual wasn't very precise and kind of made for advanced knitters. Very disappointing. I expected more, considering it was listed as a beginner's project.

Dip-Dye Summer Scarf

Scarves. I'm a huge fan of scarves of any kind. Chunky cozy knit scarves in winter, and brightly patterned airy scarves in summer. I happened to find a nice chiffon scarf in white, but you know plain white is boring. Let's add some color!

Painted Knitting Needles

While knitting is definitely not one of my main talents, and the only stitch I am able to manage is the basic Garter Stitch, I truly enjoy playing with yarn and needles lately. It is extremely relaxing, can easily be done while watching TV, and you can see a result after only a couple of minutes.
I purchased a knitting magazine a few weeks ago, that came with two skeins of yarn and a set of ( admittedly cheap) wooden needles.
Today, i painted those needles. It's super easy and can be done in minutes..

Easter is right around the corner. And although we don't actually calebrate, the whole family will be gathered in our home this year, and i am currently planning the table setting and decoration. This DIY requires some time and patience, as you will have to wait for the clay and paint to dry. But it's fun, and i love the result.

This tray is basically my dinner table. I've had it for at least one decade, and use it every time when i'm snuggled up in my bed and eat while watching TV. Plain white is boring though; time for a makeover!
