Happy Sunday
It's been a while since my last "Happy Sunday" post, but i simply wasn't in the mood during our vacation. But now that things are back to normal, here is a little review of the past days.
1. We spent two days in Marseille, and it was wonderful! I will post a travel report with lots of photos within the next few weeks.
2. I teamed up with one of my favorite party blogs, and i am happy to say that i am a new sponsor of "Pretty My Party".
3. My favorite new nail color: Creamy Coral by Astor
4. A DIY pop-up birthday card with confetti for my sister:

5. Despite all the rain, the flowers on our balcony are growing quickly.
6. I sinned. After six weeks of being strong, i broke my no-shopping rule at TK Maxx last week when I was looking for a birthday gift for my sister. Well, i found one, but ended up spending more money on items for myself than for her. 15€ isn't that much, but i felt guilty afterwards.
I could come up with a lame excuse and say that i needed those items for my shop ( which is partly true), but i will admit that i wanted to buy those items. I have been searching for some cake decorating stuff for a while now, and simply could not let this opportunity pass. And then there were those wonderful large bags of dried lavender. Oh, they smelled so good, and were much cheaper than the tourist traps in Marseille. I had to buy one bag for our closet.
7. But then i made up for it. I started decluttering my closet, and will donate lots of items in the coming weeks.
And lastly some totally random photos. You may have seen most of them already, if you follow me on Instagram, but i want to have them here on my blog as well.

Happy Sunday
Today's "Happy Sunday" is a bit different than usual because there isn't much to say about this week except for one word.
VACATION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The last seven days went like this:
Monday: ugh, 4 more days of work
Tuesday: ugh, 3 more days of work
Wednesday: ugh, still 2 more days of work
Thursday: ugh, still still 1 more day of work
Friday morning: ugh, 9 more hours of work
Friday evening: MisterT and i both came home at around the same time, and the first thing we screamed was "vacaaaaaaaaatiiiiiiiiiiooooooooooon", followed by a silly "happy dance".
It is actually a stay-cation, but the only thing that matters is that we don't have to go to work, and instead can spend some time together and do whatever we want.
We plan to do nothing, but i want to take the opportunity to do intensive spring cleaning and decluttering and work on new items for my shop. My parents will be here for a week or so, and we are going to Marseille later next month. Moreover I will be able to wear all my colorful socks all the time, which is great because i love my fun socks but unfortunately am not allowed to wear them at work.
Today was the first flea market of the season, and as always i went very early in the morning and later in the afternoon.
We had scrambled eggs and bacon for breakfast, i made a cheesecake, finished two custom orders, took a nap ( or two), enjoyed looking at my new bouquet of gorgeous red tulips, and i wore pink socks :)
Doesn't sound very exciting, but this is what a perfect lazy day looks like to me!

Travel: A Cruise to Norway (or two)
In 2010 we went on a mini cruise to Oslo/ Norway. This week we booked the same cruise again, right after the cruise company had published a coupon code in the internet: a three-day cruise for two people for 0€!!!
You can't beat that!
Turned out later that the publication was a mistake and the code was actually intended to be used by employees only, but since the company had already confirmed our booking we were allowed to go.

Travel: Warsaw Weekend Getaway
This weekend we finally made our trip to Warsaw. I must admit that i never would have chosen Warsaw or Poland as one of my "must-see" destinations, but the city's Old Town is extremely charming with those beautiful, old and colorful houses and it was well worth a visit.
We stayed at a 5* hotel that definitely does not deserve the fifth star due to the lack of excellent customer service and cleanliness. But we had a nice time nonetheless.
A Mini Summer Vacation Part II
The next day we explored our own city. Had not been to the "Hafencity" for a long time now, and boy, this place has become huge! It is now indeed a city within a city with dozens or perhaps even hundreds of new buildings, and still a giant construction area. Fantastic! Clearly i would not want to live there but the contrast between old and new is stunning in some way.
So, this post is mainly a collection of photos of architecture. You will notice that i have that strange preference for taking photos of building fassades from an angle. This is not very artistic and must seem boring to everyone else, but i enjoy it anyhow.
And no, i don't really care that my mother made fun of me because in her opinion i am silly and "act like some kind of super photographer" (<= original quote) just because i am not ashamed to lay down on the ground in public or almost sprain my spine in order to bring my eye's vision tofilm memory card.
I know that i am not a photographer! I own a six-year old non-SLR digital camera, i shoot in automatic mode most of the time because i am too lazy to adjust the settings manually, my photos are blurry because i rarely use the tripod for that same laziness reason, and my editing is minimal because my editing skills are minimal. I simply love photos plus i happen to prefer images of angles, fractions and reflections over shots of the entire building, alright??

A Mini Summer Vacation Part I
My parents are here to visit us and with rare sunny skies and warm 24°C
Four days off from work in a row is the most i can get this year, so this day at the beach was kind of like my mini summer vacation. My dad did a search on Google to find a hidden place where i could collect some driftwood and after a one-hour drive we ended up in the middle of nowhere. If you are a city girl like me, you cannot imagine the incredible quietness of this place. No traffic noise or humans let alone cars. Nothing but the chirping of birds and the soft whistle of the wind. Wonderful!
Fort Lauderdale 1
Back home from Miami we knew we wanted MORE Florida asap, and immediately started planning our next vacation. As much as we loved South Beach, we decided to go to a less crowded, less fancy, more relaxed area and chose Fort Lauderdale. In order to save money and be more flexible we booked a motel suite with a small kitchen instead of a hotel room ( yay and hooray for low rates during hurricane season), an inexpensive rental car with my flight attendant discount, and thanks to our Continental Airlines vouchers we paid $23 or so per ticket, which significantly contributed to making this vacation one of the cheapest ever.
I had just returned from a week in Gambia, and basically stepped from one plane into the other.

You know, the usual crappy must-have photos that are totally senseless and not really worth watching, yet you take them as a little refresher of all the details that otherwise would fade from memory quickly. It's nice to look at them again a few years later and a huge help to recall the moments.

REVIEW: South Beach/ Miami Vacation 2008 Part I
I can't remember what exactly made us choose Miami. We had been on some weekend-/city-trips before but never on a "real" vacation together as a couple. Our requirements: relaxing, sunny and a beach, and absolutely inexpensive. Our inital thought was Egypt, one of the cheapest vacation spots on earth. But that whole "charter flight/ package holiday/ stay in your all-inclusive resort all day"- mentality didn't appeal to us and we joked about making our dream come true and visit the other side of the Atlantic Ocean. I started doing some research and was amazed to find some real good steals. After 11 hours (!) straight in front of my laptop, comparing rates and reviews i clicked the "Confirm" button at 3am in the night. 1500€ bargain Miami was booked!
