REVIEW: Renovating & Moving 2005 Part I

When MisterT moved in with me i was living in a huge but almost empty attic appartment.
The listed floor space was 86qm, according to the lease contract. However, it is the law that penthouse floor areas must not be included fully, depending on the angle ot the pitch of the roof.
That means 1qm² is measured as 1/2 or even 1/4, so the actual floor space was almost 115qm²!!

That appartment was wonderful and we both still miss it.
It had two bedrooms, one bath, two hallways with large built-in closets, one guest bath and a spacious living room with a large open kitchen and a south/west balcony.
Moreover we had our own garage, a 16qm clean and dry basement, a separate bicylce storage room, a huge dry and clean attic and lots of parking space in front of the house.
The house was surrounded by trees and large lawns and was located in a "high income" estate: our neighbours were mainly lawyers, business managers or owners and teachers ( one of them was my elementary school teacher) and the neighbor below us was a policeman, which gave us a good and safe feeling.
Everyone was very friendly and helpful and living there was a dream!

Oh, and a funny sidenote: When i bought a new (used) car later that year we found out that the car salesman was the pre-previous tenant of our appartment. He was the one who did that lousy laminate job and he was the one who damaged the entry door when he came home one night, terribly drunk and realized he had lost his keys...
He was nice person though and sold me an incredible good and reliable car!

The appartment was almost empty before i met MisterT. When my ex boyfriend and i ended our relationship in 2004 we split up our furniture equally. I kept the bedroom furniture, dinner table, a desk and two Ikea Billy cabinets. And he took most of the livingroom stuff, including the large TV.
It was a good deal for both of us except for me not having a sofa. Fortunately my parents still had their old leather sofa, and a few months later one of my workmates gave me his old and shabby Ikea sofa, which was a little bit prettier and larger than the leather thing.

So, like i said i didn't have much furniture and the first thing we did after MisterT moved in was to buy a new sofa. The "Megasofa" :)

We celebrated our first purchase with champagne, canapés, cheese, bacon and vegetable sticks and caviar eggs

The next project was painting the walls in our study, from white to a warm and sunny yellow.

We really liked the color and it made the study look so much more cosy.
These days i think the combination of silver and yellow wasn't the best decision and i would never do it again. I still have those Billy cabinets and plan to give them a makeover soon. But more on that later...

REVIEW: The ghost is dead / Halloween Review

Call me childish but i think a ghost carrying a pumpkin lantern is extremely funny.

Halloween is not very popular here, or at least not as common as elsewhere. I love it though and have always been a huge fan of that spooky day, but i don't decorate a lot. Just some knickknack here and there. I do not own much Halloween decoration, most of my stuff is ages old and i use the same items year after year.

The ghost was one of my favorites and i am sad to say that he has died last night.
I will never find out what exactly happend in the box where i kept him but he broke into several pieces, as well as the Apple-Pumpkin.

I didn't like the Apple-Pumpkin anyway but had already chosen him to be my "fancy makeover" object, with some awesome paint and glitter or stuff like that.
Oh well, i guess i cannot fix them but i might find another use for the scraps.

Now let's take a quick look at the previous years. Nothing special, just for the sake of completeness.
